atif - part of the responsibility of bringing up children is telling them what they can and can't do/have etc, regardless of how 'embarrassing' it may be.
I've seen the same excuse posted on QL for why parents don't use child seats or seat belts on their children in the car - "but my child cries or screams so it's easier to let them do what they want".
It's pathetic. Parents who give in to their child's every whim and request are not fit parents in my opinion.
