In most cases the contract signed in Manila are fake! Just like I said before, most agency provide contract for housemaid with a different job titles like ex. cleaner, food server and so on, with a salary of $200 dollars, when infact the workers are going to work as DH-domestic helper. Then how does it prevails?
U know what, I would be very happy if the Filipino housemaids are taking home $400 dollars.
But look at this scenario:
An employer goes to a manpower office in Qatar to hired Filipino housemaid. And he can offers only $200 as monthly salary. The office in Qatar contacted their counterpart office in Manila. The office in Manila looks for applicant who can do the job. Here comes the desperate applicant in Manila and the office inform her the salary is only $200, if she accept the offers, take it, if not then leave it, simple as that! So, why can't we do it the other way? Why can't we say to the employers, we need $400 dollars salary as housemaid, take it or leave it!
If no Filipino housemaid will accept this lower salary, the employer are force either to hired a non-Filipino housemaid or... offers a salary of $400 as required. But truth is there are lots.
But then, if there are available employment for these less fortunate people who are desperate to work for a lower salary, do u think they will take the pain of being miles away from their loveones? No!
Bottomline is, I blame our corrupt Govt. for the hardship of the Filipino people. And they are actually the real accomplish for this so called exploitation! I myself, if there is any available good paying job for me in the Philippines, I will not find myself in any Gulf countries. As a Nurse, my salary in the Philippines was equivalent to a housemaid salary in the Gulf, yes! it was only $200 considering that was a Govt. job huh? That asnwer the common question, why 70% of Filipino Nurses are outside the country. My own opinion ;)
