When you enter a date using format MM-DD-YYYY and save it to computer or some other file systems the files STAY in chonological order.
When you use DD-MM-YYYY the files are sorted by days. To maintain chonological order without additional manipulation use the MM-DD-YYYY format.
Example: A folder containing Staff meetings when the meetings are named by date....
MM-DD-YYYY Format
01-14-2009 January Meeting 02-14-2009 February Meeting 03-10-2009 March Meeting 04-05-2009 April Meeting
Using DD-MM-YYYY Format the files are sorted...
05-04-2009 April Meeting 10-05-2009 March Meeting 14-01-2009 January Meeting 14-02-2009 February Meeting
The first approach appears more logical and easier to find
Just another point of view........ _______________________________________________________
