Education is the key as an earlier poster said - when people are educated they tend to not follow the herd blindly but to form their own (informed) opinions.

Unfortunately, this doesn't happen often enough. I can't tell you how often my compatriots make silly assumptions about my life here in the Gulf - based on heresay and assumptions - not by actually "looking it up" which is so much easier today with internet access (so long as you use reliable sources). But, as my signature line says ..............
