Re: the practising religion bit - I think he's referring to the Hindu temples. That is a totally different issue altogether. Qatar is a monotheist society so the policies are in line with that. But we are all guests in this country, we change the things we can change for the better but not everything can be changed to suit us.
Emotional arguments jumble up everything. So it looks like the "not being let in to city centre" is actually rooted in something else.
As far as "naturalisation" is concerned - I can understand why many who have worked and stayed here for 30 years would like to be citizens and possibly, it's just me but as I said, I am a guest in this country, so work and leave when the time comes. Or stay, if the policy changes in the future, if I live that long. I can uproot myself and stay anywhere in the world. If I have a family later, it will be more difficult but nothing is impossible, if God wills it.
Btw, the economy of qatar won't crumble. Things may be difficult but that's why there are stricter regulations in place now.
