The director of Al Fazaa told reporters at the new force’s headquarters in Mamoura that a patrol comprising one or two vehicles would be deployed, according to the strength of the population in a particular zone. Additional vehicles would be stationed on roads between towns on the North Road, Coastal Road, Dukhan Road, Mesaieed Road and Salwa Road. He said that the force would play a major role in maintaining public order through its presence on the roads as well as speedier movement of traffic and intense surveillance on all central and suburban routes. “For this purpose, we have well-trained personnel with a mandate to ease jams, catch traffic rule violators, ensure road safety, respond to all situations that require immediate intervention and extend help in case of emergencies.” The official said that the force’s personnel were distributed in such a way that the average time required for intervention was between five and seven minutes. He said ‘Al Fazaa’ would also facilitate the landing of HMC’s air ambulances. http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=279120...
