The institution of marriage is evolving, as it always has; Father's no longer insist on mothers not working etc
Out of wedlock means they don't have a piece of paper - most of these kids are born into households with parents living together as a family unit. Whether living together or not the vast, vast majority of kids know who their fathers are.
Wedlock does not prove male parentage , I read recently that 10% of kids in married households were not the child of the husband but had been cuckholded.
Anyway this story is very sad and they will have to live with the consequences. I wouldn't want to be them.
