wow, this is a stressful thread!!

Catherineanne, I know it seems rather cruel to have a 3 year old taken away with strangers on her own, been there and done that.

I believe they do it to test if the child is ready, i.e. waiting to see if the child will cry and hang on to the mothers leg.

Whilst I agree with you, and prefer the concept of Mum being with child during the interview, I guess it's the system D. College has decided to adopt. Therefore, I suppose one has to accept the same if set on DC. Nevertheless, I think an interview with Mum present (in my opinion) is better. The child will feel a bit more comfortable with the new experience, and may tend to be more talkative with Mum in the background. I am sure they come across interviews whereby kids don't open their mouths, yet are chatterboxes when in a comfortable environment.

As for the rude manner of the principal, that is just not acceptable at all. Firstly, educators should set the bar in various ways, including basic decorum. I am aware that demand is high, but this should not result in being spoken to in such a manner. It seems that the principal forgot the schools own slogan! It is a shame that some teachers working at D.C doing their best, and working with their heart are pulled down by the attitude of the school at times.
