various point of views from eastern, western, european and american angle.
Can we conclude that this is all in ones mindset and social / family format depending on the geographical placement of a person?
One need to be open minded and view from macro level.
As TL and QO said Islam is the full set and way of Life for some; yes, Islam has touched upon all the topics in the way one should spend his/her life, but not in detail.
(Men & Women) It is the duty on both, need to have enough maturity to understand each other's psychological, and basic needs, freedom and sense of independency (provide space as well).
Generally, nobody would like to ask for $$$ from spouse for personal expenses, if one have minimum self respect. Exceptions are always there (Illa-MashaAllah),
such as under extreme financial crisis faced by a family.
I personally feel and as seen in the Gulf, more GCC females are working in order to maintain their standard of living, manage personal pocket-expenses and supporting families as well.
There is no need to get threatened by either sex under the current working environment. I could not deny the fact that men are bias in case of favouring a female co-worker in many ways, which is obviously disturbing for a male competent-worker.
No offense to anybody here, sometimes female workers are trying seducing men to seek special favour, which is not at all acceptable.
