I respect nearly all people and their cultures, especially if they respect there own. there are many locals who drink, take drugs, have sex before marriage (both genders), abuse and offend those who are here to help develop the country.
They drive so crazy they cause many accidents and take innocent lives, they abuse their own government systems, they threaten and use their nationality when they are in the wrong.
So please to gain respect you have to give it. I like Qatar as i like my own country but like others i come here to support my family back home.I am a part of the Arab culture but sometimes when i see and hear what goes on here by my own people its hurtful.
The majority of expats are respectful but there are a few who act as if they live in their own counrty which is not acceptable.
People serve many purposes here, teachers, engineers, labour, prostitutes, etc. this is what happens when you open your country and not develop it using the local people. i don't think i would ever see a national working in the construction industry as a labour as the work is hard and dirty and the hours are too long.
I generalise in what i say, as i have met some real decent nationals who reflect the religious and culure of this country as its important to them that this is not lost in the westernisation of Qatar.

Qatar itself is a nice place so respect it.
