AliKahtoon..Ok Now I am awake.. The question being asked here is if the Rings are Islamic or not. Not what you or your family or frineds do.
This tradition like so many others are not promoted in Islam however many of the muslims nowaday have adopted them just like many other Christian customs. For Christians it is a must to have the rings on the marriage ceromony without them the ceromonay is not complete, however this can not be said about an Islamic marriage. Rings are not obligatory requirement for an Islamic marriage.
