The Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association- Qatar, celebrated the "Sir Syed Day" as it's founder's day, at banquet hall of Asiana hotel, on the 15th of November, 2008. It was a memorable event attended by more than 100 Aligarians and their families plus 25 guest from different communities. The function commenced by the recitation of Holy Qura’an. President of the AMU Alumni Association gave welcome address. Mr. Abdul Hameed Janahi Manager Electrical Projects - Kahramaa, chief guest. Mr. Jassim Mohammad Khanji (Manager- Water Networks - Kahramaa), and Mr. Ananth Narayan (CFO – Al Jaidah Group), were the guest of hounour. Some of the eminent urdu poets enthralled the audience by their sweet urdu poetry. One of the Poet and Senior Alumnus, Mr Jawed Badauni came from Oman to attend Sir Syed Day. He also recited his composed urdu poetry, which everyone enjoyed immensely. The program was concluded by the traditional University song “AMU TARANA” by a group of members.
