and its really interesting to read MagicDragon's answer after reading the article :)
For example do you have scientific proof that "Nature is the painter"?
Passing such statement as fact is the problem that is an obstacle in front of serious open minded research.
Returning to the article I think defining god is not a mistake but the right step to take. If one has a solid definition then that is truly is the nature of a God.
For example saying that god looks like human beings or that god is everywhere will contradict many points along the way.
In my opinion calling the world an accident is very unscientific. We should say that the word is an amazingly huge amount of accidents. Each accident is luckier than the other.
If we look at it at a super microscopic scale. What are the chances of life starting on earth?
Thats why scientists say that chances must have been rapid at the beginning (for some reason)
What are the chances that the first living organism had all the biological functions to survive?
What are the chances that all the functions functioned correctly?
What are the chances that the enviroment was perfectly suitable for the first organism to start? and from there we go to another set of infinite chances such as:
What are the chances that Earth is at a perfect distance from the Sun?
Knowing that a slight change in that distance (negative or positive) would end life as we know it
What are the chances that the Moon is at a perfect distance from Earth?
What are the chances that the moon was created?
Knowing that the moon existed after the earth and that the most accepted theory is a collision between earth and a celestial body that hit earth...again in a perfect lucky angle.
Knowing that without the moon life would end on earth for many reasons for example the moon keeps the earth from wobbling and thus preventing extreme climatic conditions and the many functions of the moon.
What are the chances that we have a layered atmosphere with each layer protecting us from something...one can keep going and going and the chances seem to be infinite if not impossible.
Its like throwing a granda at some rocks and after the smoke clears you found that it formed a fully functional Ferrari with the logo on the bonnet.
The evidence of an intelligent designer is overwhelming yet there is no evidence of "No God" at all.
an Atheist will go so far to cling to theories that have no evidence to deny a creator.
You will never find the people who built the Ferrari inside yours. Thats why you wont find the Creator inside this world.
If a creator created the laws of this universe then he probably can create other laws for other universes so its really narrow minded to subjugate the creator to the laws of our world.
Again you do not have to be made of fiberglass or metal to build a ferrari.
"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?"
