I hope u don't mind at all if I get your reactions here on a particular issue like Christmas shopping not only in Manila but Doha as well. I did some other research on a larger perspective like OFWs not only send US 1 billion a month to their families back home of which a bulk of this amount goes to spending on shopping. That is why, according to studies, the three biggest shopping malls in the world are located in Metro Manila. It is because malling (not to be confused as shopping) has become a national past time. So why do malls thrive in a poor country like ours? It is the emergence of OFWs, and their families as reliable customers of shopping malls. In short, malls , not only in Manila but might be Doha as well, have made owners much richer.
