Hi there all i can add to the mix is try driving. I've been here 4 months. When the kids were at school it was a nightmare getting transport, been let down so many times. Now however I have my own car and I'm loving it !!! I feel like I've got my life back and I'm no longer having to rely on people who really aren't that reliable. The roads are a lot less scary when you are in control and even though I've only been driving for less than 2 weeks you get to know the "signs" that someone is about to turn left on the roundabout from the righthand lane ! Don't be worried about getting involved in an incident. The fact that you are female will go in your favour and I have found the locals and police to be both polite and helpful, not that I've had that much to do with either yet ! I personally would highly recommend getting your own transport to help you settle in, and regarding the settling in thing my advise is be patient it will take time.
