Cat's are amazing creatures, they will always find somwhere comfy and warm to have a nap. Having said that I had a similar experience with a kitten. I discovered him in my engine when I got to work, thank goodness he endured the ride which was about 20km, unscathed but pretty shaken up. I think he was just small enough to hide in a small enough space. I kept him and callled him Thursday as that was the day I found him in my engine. When you get into your car just give the engine a few good rev's and if there is a kitty in the engine, it should zoot out pretty quickly.
