Not to be a party pooper, but I remember those days when:
girls couldn't grow up to be doctors or engineers;
childhood leukemia was a death sentence;
child sexual abuse wasn't talked about or believed;
down syndrome children were always institutionalized.
If we don't remember the bad with the good - and it WAS good, too - we indulge in a false nostalgia.
