Welcome, Janet, I hope you do move to Qatar! I would venture that your first question would be about accomodation. You would want it to be fully paid for by your employer and in a nice and convenient part of town. I have a girlfriend who is living alone in an area where there are 99 men to every woman and she is a bit uncomfortable. You also will need to drive in Doha,it's just not a great place for taxis and there is no accessible public transportation to speak of. There is a nice social network with churches, women's groups, restaurants and shopping and I find I meet a lot of my friends at the gym (ladies only, of course.) There are many single adult women here in Doha, particulary in Education City. I'm sure you'll find friends easily.
