we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
I have been to heaps of poor places and been treated with the utmost respect and courtesy.
these experiences have been humbling and yes some of the poorest people have behaved like absolute gentlemen.
how people maintain their dignity in the face of such an adverse harsh daily existence is beyond me.

Incidents in countries like yemen, sudan, mozambique all spring to mind....

I don't think it is a poverty issue i think it is a cultural issue.
A cultural issue on how one treats women and how one treats visitors to your country.
