I can best explain it from a regional method as the term football.
In the US, football is called soccer. It's a simple way of 'when in Rome'.
So in most arabic countries it's referred to the Arabian Gulf.
People are indeed free to call it whatever you want. You could call it the Rainbow Gulf if you wanted. I was simply stating that in Qatar (and also in other Arabic countries) it's called the Arabian Gulf. (It's also stated as that on Google Maps for example)
The funny thing is, I was just joking around but seems that's what the focus was on in this thread.
