I am not against punishments. I am against the compassion people use behind their opinions and desired punishment of those people.

Punishment can be a good thing and if misused it can become a way of oppression. We punish however we should also show immense amount of compassion and understanding of a persons situation. And forgive them for their mistakes after they have been punished.

take for instance if your own wife stole something. Something she normally would not do. Would you punish her or try to talk with her about the situation? Try to figure out what brought her to that point? Would you turn her in to the cops in order to press about her punishment? Or would you try to overlook it as much as possible.

Even when a muslim is cheating the spouse has the right to forgive them or not! And even when the lady went to the Prophet and told him of committing zina he turned his face away 3 times.

Really I have a problem here because your posts are very narrow and lack any compassion, understanding or forgiveness for other people. Everything is very straight for you and I do not think you have a good grasp on how harsh some of the punishments you support really are.
