However I do apologise, Obama's nomination acceptance speech did not refer to the race issue. My bad. Nonetheless, I don't think Obama has avoided the issue of race or that he's doing well at the polls for this reason as you assert. I think he deserves a tad bit more respect for what he promises, and we hope, he is able to deliver as President. To completely ignore the question of race would be a little naive don't you think?
But why would you say McCains pick for VP was a great move? JMT's link is quite interesting actually. It was definitely a highly risky move, it'll either make or break the Republican Campaign.
