Wrong nomad. Roundabouts work fine in cities with lots of vehicles (take many of the UKs cities as examples), as long as the drivers in all those vehicles know how to navigate a roundabout properly.
Obviously it doesn't work in Qatar though, because you have 1000s of people from totally different driving backgrounds, none of whom have been taught how to use them properly. Add to this that some of the roundabouts have been poorly designed and you have a recipe for disaster.
I personally enjoy navigating the roundabouts here as you would back in the UK - drifting outwards across the lanes as you go round it. It makes for a very exciting journey!
