a) the standard of course books is dreadful and it is a long time gripe of mine that somewhere like Qatar doesn't produce some top quality books and super website to make the language accessible...
and if you have any wasta I want to be a co-author
b) going about our daily shopping etc... there aren't that many arabs speakers to interact with
c) classes expensive
d) classes old fashioned by western standards
e) teachers rarely Qatari and want to teach us the 'proper way' ie their way.
I spent 1500 on classes at the British Council when i first arrived and they were dreadful... and in a two hour class sometimes the teacher was only present for one hour...
