At least you'll have seen Dubai less metropolis'ised (yes, bad English but a new word perhaps...) 5 yrs ago, it was pretty much all desert when I first went there 26 yrs ago to visit my Dad who's been there ever since...
I think Doha has a charm about it, character & (as yet) the Corniche hasn't been swallowed by towers all around its edge as Dubai has done with it's beaches.
That's the joke, you drive down Beach Road & are not able to see any beach, or sea for that matter!!
I live in Ezdan (Al Dafna) so know about City Centre if that's what you're referring to down by The Sheraton - yeah it's growing like crazy, just hope it doesn't spread all down the Corniche so you can't see the sea when driving along it!!
Don't know how long I'll be here, am happy so far & unless the company moves me, I'm happy to ride the Qatar wave for the time-being & into the future, have no plans to permanently return to the UK - maybe get my son out here at some point when he's finished college!
