Like anywhere else, there are +'s and -'s to Al Khor.

Al Khor, like other posters said, is pleasant with its trees, plants and grass. It is quite spacious and you can take a walk without getting run over. There are spaces for the kids to play. The housing is nice there. The facilities are nice.

On the other hand, the schools in Doha may be better for your children. The population of Al Khor is predominantly Indian, I believe. Does that matter to you? The small Qatari town of Al Khor near the Al Khor community has little to offer in the way of shopping or entertainment. Trips to Doha are required.

Al Khor community is close to Ras Laffan, which makes commuting easier for the working member of the family. The commute from Doha to Al Khor, on the other hand, is one hour each way.

I think it depends on the school for the kids where you should consider living. If they are going to go to school in Doha, then living in AL Khor would be inconvenient.
