in south korea they have these things which are three in one. 1. Navigation like a normal GPS enabled device with handy maps.
2. DMB (Digital Media Broadcast) live TV only works in Korea at this moment
3. Video/Audio capable of playing various audio and video files like avi, mpeg etc.
All the maps are loaded files from which I deduce that it is possible to copy maps of other countries as well.
