If your friend has to go out of the country he must send his family first or he needs take them with him. He can only stay in the country for few days after the cancellation of visa therefore he must find out from his sponsor how long the grace period is and act accordingly. If he stay additional days than the days he could stay and pass grace period too, then there will be a penalty for an over stay without visa which he has to pay at the airport when leaving.
