Pls. find the following facts as to what really happened...this came from a colleague who got in touch with the lady in question...I suggest that next time before we post anything sensitive like these, filter facts first so as not to misguide readers and cause wild reactions..

 

1. "The Sudani took his men and went up to the girl and charged her with the theft of shoes". NOT TRUE.

- This case happened on Thursday, 24th April 2008 at about 1530Hrs. She  was first approached by her Filipina supervisor,  asking how she

was able to buy a QR22 worth of shoes while she was on duty as a cashier in counter #30. Earlier, she  had inadvertently scanned a pair of shoes

which she asked from a Trolley Boy. Two western customers, rushing to leave, paid for the shoes when she told them they have to wait for awhile as

she wanted to call her supervisor to cancel the scanned item. After the customers left, she gave the shoes, placed inside the plastic bag, to the Trolley

Boy and told him to keep it inside the Central Cashiers Office (CCO). The trolley boy informed a Nepali staff at CCO, who, in turn, informed

her supervisor., who  then confronted the filipina cashier. Subsequently,, cashier's supervisor, took her to the CCO and referred her to the Security

Investigation Room where Sudani Security Manager, questioned her about the un-authorized transaction.

2. "They then paraded the girl throughout the store in handcuffs... telling everybody she was a thief". NOT TRUE.

This incident happened on Saturday, 26/04/2008 at about 1000Hrs, two days after the initial incident occured.

After Security confiscated her ID on 24th April (Thursday), she was instructed to return on Saturday to meet the Personnel Manager,

who was not in the office. Security then decided to call the Police. Two policemen responded, were briefed about the case and visited the "scene of the

crime" (the questioned counter). They walked along the long lane where all the cashiers' counters were located, proceeded towards the Customer Services,

went to the police car and took her to Madinat Khalifa police station.

3. "Carrefour Management went through her room looking for "other things" that were stolen from Carrefour, and anything she has but doesnt have a receipt, they kept". NOT TRUE. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN AT ALL.

4. "The next day, the prosecutor went to Carrefour and asked to view the video tape....." NOT TRUE. THIS SCENARIO DID NOT HAPPEN.

The prosecutor did ask her at about 2100Hrs on Saturday, 26/04/2008, as to what really happened. This time, she stated the shoes had been

paid for by the Western customers. The Prosecutor was told by Security Manager that she was only 75 dirham under-cashed/short in her counter,

hence, the Prosecutor recommended she did not have to pay any bail bond, released her back to the custody of the police which remanded her to the

Madinat Khalifa police station at about 0200Hrs on Sunday, 27/04/2009. At about 0800Hrs, she was released from police "Women Jail" and set

free.
