What the poem reachs is a kind of greatness in sad manner. This is the style of Chinese culture. China is a sleeping dragon,which will be feared by others if it becomes strong and rich.

Also, there is a popular proverb that "one can't leave home if his/her parent is alive". Up to now, there are lots people following it. It is so difficult for foreigners to understand. It is Chinese way. The rule is same as conventions from other countiry or religions. This point is based on China's huge territory and respecting for the old.
