if you are a first timer " no" they will not give you long term visa. you can apply for 6 months first. you need to fill up the on line application form for family visit visa. then you get online appointment.

Original passport and the old passport on hand. and copies with RP.

Bank statement 6 months or pay slips.

proof of your relation to the people you are going to visit and thier complete address and contact number.and thier right to abode in uk.

Travel itinerary.

And you have to answer the form and they will get your biometric identification.
