As we all do.. Abu american.. May Allah forgive us InshAllah.
Darude.. I think celebrating the prophet is the same as christians celebrating the bday of jesus..
it leads to shirk! I.E. today we can find large LARGE groups of muslims worshipping Mohammad and saints and seeking intercession with them when their is nothing in the Quran or Sunnah to that the companions or the Prophets family did such a thing.
I think this was a wisdom from Allah and the best method is to show we love our Prophet PBUH by following his way! And sticking to the two Eids avoids all sorts of Fitnahs (that is afflicting the muslims today)..
So whoami.. you said that it doesn't cause harm.. but in fact it has caused tremendous harm in our ummah and Aqueedah of alot of people. Which is why I stick to the early generations so as to avoid confusion! And this is part of taqwa: To avoid what is halal for fear of future sinning by us or our children and their children.
