If the passport has been applied with the qualification documents and issued in the last 4 years, there is no need of a specific ECNR stamp as all passports are ECNR unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

If it is an old passport and issued without the supporting documents being provided; it is best to get the ECR cancelled on the passport. It is just a day's procedure in the office where the passport was issued.

Even otherwise, you can get a one-time entry permission at the airport immigration but that depends on the mood of the officer; so don't risk it.
