Don't you think the Syrians will find it strange that everybody losses his or hers passport in Jordan? Don't forget that the Syrian bordrguards are allowed to search your bag, looking for proof (money, hotelbill, etc) that you have been in Israel.
So if you want to do a grant tour through the ME the only route overland is from the North to the south, if you want to conclude Israel in it.
