I know this is sort of nit-picking, but are you really 'coming out' if you come out online, ie anonymously?
Isn't 'coming out', by definition, being open and honest to yourself, friends and family? Identifying as a member of the GBLT community anonymously on a blog isn't really coming out.
However, it is still a positive thing for those who have 'come out' (in the sense that the article uses the term) since it proves the existence of these people in countries where people seem to believe that gays and lesbians are just creatures of the debauched west.
Oryx, I would love to write a long and forthright reply to your post (in agreement) but I'm affraid that what I have to say wouldn't be fit to print! It would most likely get me a free trip home for the summer, however.
