When someone adopts an animal from QAWS surely it's better they know what they're letting themselves in for?
We could lie to everyone that comes and say it's free to adopt, they're house-trained, it's really cheap to take them with you when you leave Qatar, they won't play bite or scratch your kids when they play, they'll stay really small and cute... But after 1 month all the dogs would be returned because they didn't know how hard it would be to have a very small puppy.
The neutering policy is non-negotiable and is found in every rescue shelter in the world. There are already too many dogs in this country and we get dozens of calls every year of where the dog has accidently got outside for a few hours and come back pregnant. When someone suddenly has 9 puppies, who's the first person they call? Normally QAWS.
We don't encourage people to buy puppies from the Souq as all it does is encourage the trade and will mean even more puppies will be sold there. That and the fact that most of them are sick.
