Yes I am shifting this weekend. I filed my application on Sunday this week. They actually disconnect you immediately.
It takes them between 7 - 10 days to come and connect you at a different location.
I am hoping they visit my new house on Sunday. Right now I am without cable and land phone.
It costs 300 riyals but when they bill you they might give you higher total but I checked with the Q Tel branch, they will not charge you based on what they gave you.
So good luck and ya it doesn't matter if you move in the same area. As long as you are changing your house its considered as shifting.
Lastly, it is better than getting a new line as the new line thing costs 399 and you don't get the same number again.
