While I did not find all of Paul's comment biased or "British", the fact that TATA's are about to lap up Jaguar and Rover, saps his arguments on things British being "best" or hardest etc. If they were so great that we wont have heard of British companies failing regularly.
Fact is, the car is built for a price, so its obviously cheap and for people who can afford it. Its not a case of Choosing between a X5 and Nano. Its possible that a 300 K QR Car will be safer than a 50K QR car, but looking at the majority of cars in Qatar, its implied in Mr Paul's agrument that most are dumb, buying cheaper cars and ignoring safety.
Tata's have tried to do something new, and by any standards margins are extremely thin. Someone investing 500 million dollars and 31 patents later comes up with a car which all major automakers said cant be made, needs a better response than "since its not British, it just cant be good."
