Well, I agree that as we grow up, there will be more demand on consumptions (food, lifestyle, clothes, etc.). However, God won't take care of us if we don't take control of our life. He'll guide us through but it's up to us to take the opportunity to make it better or not. Life is meaningless if not thinking ahead. Without money saved (not to the extreme, of course) for a better future, it's like living as an animal (ex. a dog) where it has to depends on others for basic survival.
If one can shop for better prices on food, it would be ignorance wasting your hard earned money for someone else becoming wealthier.
