The bees should actually leave fairly soon because of the heat. I suspect they move their colony to some kind of underground (shallow cave, hole in the ground) housing for the summer to keep cool - much like in colder climates they "hibernate" for the worst times of the year.
I would love to have the comb after they leave - the honey is usually gone but they are very interesting in an architectural sense.
