Butterfly, a little flawed, your words...to quote two of your phrases...

'I think no one is trying to say that Qataris are racist per se'

and your words that contradict that...

'It is sad, but yes, I think Qataris are racists'

I have no doubt that some people are racists in every country of the world.

I have no doubt that things happen in every country of the world that are wrong.

But that does not make all Qataris racist. And that does not mean that all Qataris do wrong. That would be generalising. There is always error in generalisation. Generalisations about entire nations of people usually come from racists and serve no purpose other than to promote racism.

If you think that things like a landlord changing the locks and rendering one homeless and employers keeping employees passports are unthinkable in Europe and are only particular to the Middle East, then you are either naieve or inexperienced in life. Whilst I do not agree with these practices and do not do that to tenants or employees, it is a fact that this is happening in every country I have worked in including US, UK, Spain, France and Italy. However that does not make me think that all the people of these nations are racists or that all the people of these countries are doing wrong. That would be generalising and we know where that can lead...
