Having lived in both Saudi and Doha, there ARE some advantages in Saudi, depending upon your situation. Our international school in Saudi put us on a large compound with pools, ball field, shopping, restaurants. The one here puts teachers in independent villas, very confining for children. (2 four year olds? think about this....) Some schools in Doha do put teachers in compounds so it depends on where you'll be. Life is very expensive in Doha - to join a social club will cost a family about $6k per year. If you're on a compound, you don't need to join one as you have those amenities. As it's a much larger country, Saudi does offer more in terms of places to visit; you can drive around Qatar in less than a day. As others noted here, women are treated better in Qatar, both expats and local women - much credit goes to the govt. for fostering an accepting and open environment. It's not just that women can drive in Qatar, it's an overall attitude that is simply friendlier. You might want to ask for teachers' emails at each school to get some independent opinions, gauge the schools, etc.
