Its the first time to hear about such things happening in hospitals. Even in Hamad hospital here in Qatar they dont turn on beds to face Macca.
In addition to the fact that in Islam there is no restrictions for patients to make their bed facing macca. Even while in prayers.

Unless the patient is medically capable to stand and do his prayers away from bed. Otherwise he/she can just do the prayers in any pose convinient to their medical condition.

Not necessary to do the whole moves as in the actual prayers. A patient can do it even with his eye moves , simulating the original moves.

I think what happeded in Yorkshire was just a personal request from individuals which has nothing to do with islamic rules.

I also don't know what did they mean with doing changes to shower facilities. Unless they have common male/female showers.
