@smoke, you are right, everytime you update the iphone you need to unlock it (which is very simple; I'm the guy who released the youtube tutorials).
However come Feb and the announcment, Apple releases the SDK which means the phone will be completely open :D
I don't understand why people update so eagerly though. I'm still using version 1.0.2 instead of 1.1.2 (all I lose it the Apple Store and I don't buy music online anyway :P)
