When did it change to Maroon?
It was actually a mistake. An experimental dye was used at the time to prepare the flags, however after being left out in the sun for too long, the red changed to the Maroon (or Anaby) also officially known as Qatar Red :)
The white represents peace and the "red" the blood of the people.
