They are brilliant for an economy as they provide huge employment opportunities. Think of all the accountants, auditors, tax attorneys and the huge public sector departments who all earn their livings as a result of taxes and the collection of them.

Also what about the tax evaders? What would they do if there were no taxes to evade? Think of the law enforcement agencies that depend on taxes as a means for apprehending criminals. Al Capone was only caught because he didn't pay his taxes.

Also, think of all the wars and armament purchases that are dependent on tax revenues. Think how tragic it would be if we couldn't have any more wars because we couldn't find the money to pay for the bombs and airplanes etc.

I am sure there are a million other reasons why taxes are great but I have a hangover and my brain has stopped working.
