I would first inform the landlord. Plus I have been told recently that renters should have insurance here as if anything happens to their rental house they are responsible, like fire, flood etc. It seems no one knows this bit of inportant information. You would not want to pay more for their negligence, get the landlord involved now to make the necessary repairs and get some insurance. Good luck
