I enjoy talking and socialising with Qataris and I love Qatari past times like falcons etc and going to weddings.

But like many I am here in a work capacity and am thus a guest in the country. I can be apprehensive because a Qatari with wasta can use it against me. Once I asked a girl (politely - away from others) not to answer her phone in class and chit chat. Guess what....I almost lost my job...!!!!!!!!!! She had Wasta and her uncle complained to someone v. important - i was really hauled up for that one. And ironically I was told that the powers that be (who didn't know me or had read my CV) now viewed me as anti-Qatari... absolutely rubbish. So here i am with experience and all sorts of qualifications but someone with 55% on their high school certificate can totally cause chaos in my life when i am only trying to do what i was brought over to do and do it sincerely and nicely.
That is why I am scared.
