Ditto...I'm American and have sponsored my husband and daughter. No problems. My employer first sponsored me and my family for the initial work visa for entry to Qatar and then once I applied for the residence permit, my employer applied to transfer my husband and daughter to my sponsorship. Maybe it depends on the employer and how much they are willing to assist. Otherwise, gender shouldn't be a problem.
