The saluki societies in the US work with rescue shelters in other countries. As far as I'm aware you can't just contact them and offer them a dog. They don't have a shelter in the States so they don't accept dogs unless there is a home ready for it to go straight into.
They find suitable families in the US that want a saluki and then contact shelters such as QAWS to see if they have any salukis that may benefit from being sent to the US. Not every saluki is suitable and they have to be pure bred, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered before they will even consider them.
